Bengi Turgan Çiftçi

Bengi is a creative leader, design strategist, service designer, and experienced facilitator.

Born in the UK, raised in Ankara, she is grounded in a triangulation of design, technology, and humanities. Bengi holds her B.A. degree in economics from Bilkent University and an MSc degree in software engineering at Boğaziçi University. She is currently finishing up her PhD thesis on “Innovation by Service Design” at ITU.

Prior to joining ATÖLYE as studio director in September 2019, she was studio director and head of creative innovation and design at Deloitte Digital. Pioneering service design and interaction design in Turkey, she started her career launching and running the project office in the leading software house, Veripark, in 2004. She founded her own creative technology and design company, Bilende, in 2007. During her 10 years as a managing partner at Bilende, she introduced ethnography and service design thinking to hundreds of projects and mentored dozens of design-led entrepreneurs. In late 2017 she joined Deloitte Turkey to initiate the creative studio within consulting, leading the design research, innovation, service design, CX, UX and UI design capabilities and helped launch Deloitte Digital. Bengi designed and facilitated over 100 design and innovation workshops for her clients, government bodies, students, and NGOs.

As a visiting professor, Bengi has run the interaction design and service design studios at Istanbul Bilgi University for undergraduate design programs since 2013. She is amongst the founders of SDN Turkey, a member of IxDA, and voluntary organizer and facilitator of Global Service Jams. Bengi has held judge and jury roles in global entrepreneurship competitions like IXDA SDC, Intel Entrepreneurship Challenge, Start-up Chile, and Verizon Horizons.
