Jared Novack

Jared co-founded Upstatement in 2008 to build new tools for content creation and push the possibilities of digital platforms. As Upstatement’s COO/CFO, Jared builds internal tools and processes to support our creative culture and business performance. Jared works with leaders across Upstatement to constantly push the organization forward while ensuring the operational and financial health of the company.

Before founding Upstatement, Jared worked as the first newsroom developer at the Houston Chronicle and The Boston Globe, where his work was nominated for an Emmy. Jared also created and maintains the popular open-source framework Timber, which powers sites for organizations like The Obama Foundation, Spotify, The Atlantic and many more.

Jared holds a BA in Computer Art from Syracuse University. When he’s not figuring out new ways to utilize cardboard, he enjoys urban exploration, architecture and cooking for his family. He lives outside of Boston with his wife and two daughters.
