SYLVAIN Joins the kyu Collective

SYLVAIN, the strategy and design consultancy that provokes progress for companies, people and society at large, is the Collective's newest member.

Founded in 2010, SYLVAIN (formerly known as Sylvain Labs) solves complex challenges related to innovation, brand strategy, and design for brands, including Apple, Chanel, Google, Netflix, Nike, Spotify, The New York Times, Diageo, BlackRock, Airbnb, and others. It’s headquartered in New York City with offices in Richmond, Los Angeles, and Amsterdam. The firm has a proven track record of helping companies evolve their businesses, products and brands to thrive in today’s increasingly challenging competitive climate.

SYLVAIN is well-known for its work with the WNBA to reinvigorate its business from the ground up, including a reset of its revenue model, brand and marketing strategy; with Uber, where the consultancy helped infuse social impact into the brand’s business strategy; and with The Museum of Modern Art, where SYLVAIN assisted in providing the institution with a better understanding of its new audience, to create better and longer-term engagements in the post-Covid world.

SYLVAIN is leading a new, modern generation of consulting, rooted in the intersection of social impact, diversity, technology, and design. The company received its B Certification in 2018 and published “A Developing Story” in 2021—its take on an impact report that calls on consultancies to hold themselves to the same social and ethical standards as their clients. In addition to its private sector work, the company actively consults non-profit organizations such as the ACLU, the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute and the B Lab, the governing body of the B Corp Certification process.

SYLVAIN will work with SYPartners, a leading transformation consultancy, to explore collaborations and potential offerings that drive greater impact at scale for their clients’ organizations.

Alain Sylvain, SYLVAIN Founder and CEO, said: “There’s a proverb, ‘If you want to go fast, go alone, and if you want to go far, go together.’ We believe our mission of leveraging the might of corporations for the benefit of the greater good requires allies—we can’t do that work alone. In joining kyu’s like-minded collective of companies, we have the opportunity to achieve greater, more meaningful progress.”

“We have known SYLVAIN’s work for many years and are delighted Alain and his partners have decided to partner with kyu for their next phase of growth,” said Michael Birkin, CEO of kyu. “This is a very creative and ambitious group of people who will bring exciting and new dimensions to the work of the Collective.”
