The kyu Collective along with Global Ventures, a leading MEA-focused venture capital firm, co-led a fundraise in Neol, a Web3-enabled, next-generation learning and work platform.
Neol aims to transform the future of learning and creative work by enfranchising creative individuals and innovators from scale-ups, corporations and creative organizations. The new platform was co-founded by Kerem Alper, its CEO, and Akar Sumset, Neol’s President, along with Community Systems Head Atılım Şahin and Design Head Aslı Sevinç Daver. All four founders have ties to ATÖLYE, where Alper now serves as Chair.
“As we face ever-increasing complexity and volatility in the world, we also see opportunities for creative thinking and collective action to develop new, innovative ways of learning, connecting and collaborating on challenges that truly matter,” said Farah Ramzan Golant, President of kyu. "As a collective of industry-defining global creative organisations, we believe in the value of community-powered systems. Our investment in Neol is based on this belief and the track record of Kerem and the team who have pioneered community-based innovation systems to great effect. A human first, technology-driven platform born for the 22nd century is an exciting exploration.”
The seed round successfully raised $5.2 million. Also participating were Learnstart, the seed fund of Learn Capital, one of world's leading education-focused VC funds; FJ Labs, the leading specialist marketplace investor across web2 and web 3; and Paribu Ventures, the investment arm of one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges.
Proceeds will be used for product, brand and partnership development. Initially focused on the UK, Europe and the Middle East, Neol will continue building its network of communities and anticipates expansion into new markets in the Global South.
